Metallica’s ‘WorldWired’ summer tour kicked off in Baltimore, Maryland at M&T Bank Stadium on May 10th. The 25-date run is the first time Metallica has done a fully extended North American and Canadian run since 2009 on their ‘World Magnetic Tour’. The California natives are on the road with Avenged Sevenfold, and for select dates Volbeat and Gojira join the all-star lineup.
The band proudly announced the formation of their ‘All Within My Hands Foundation’ and collaboration with Crowdrise. Their mission is to inspire fans to make a donation when purchasing tickets to the upcoming gigs. The incentive is to win cool prizes while giving back to a cause which benefits national, local and Bay Area charities that the individual band members support, along with continuing to donate to music education programs and food banks. At the MetLife Stadium stop of the tour in East Rutherford New Jersey, the Grammy-winning metal icons opened their 15 song headlining set with their 2016 release ‘Hardwired’. Metallica closed their set with an epic encore of Enter Sandman.
After the show at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, the band made an appearance on The Late show with Stephen Colbert, performing ‘Now That We’re Dead’ from their latest release, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.
The North American leg of the ‘WorldWired’ tour ends in on August 16 in Edmonton, AB at Commonwealth Stadium. Visit Ticketmaster for a full list of dates and ticket info.
